Revival....
Today, we had a guest worship leader at our church - Robin Mark. Never Revival I hear the voice As sure as gold is precious and the honey sweet, Every dreamer dreaming in her dead-end job I can hear that thunder in the distance From the Preacher preaching when the well is dry Every man and woman, every old and young I can hear that thunder in the distance Revive us, Revive us, If your church holds a currentCCL license, you may use these The studio version A live version of the song is available on Mandate - All For Jesus and Revival in Belfast. Sheet music of this song is available in the Revival in Belfast Songbook and on the
heard of the guy before and the church I'm currently attending is a
little more charismatic so I wasn't sure just what to expect. I was
pleasantly surprised for sure! This man is from Ireland and so there
was aCeltic feel to some of his songs. One song spoke to me immensely,
titled 'Revival' (lyrics along with a video of the song follow). I
think this resonated with me because of my own lostness lately not to
mention of that of those around me. We all need a new stirring in our
Spirits to live passionate, meaningful lives.
Being from another country, some of his lyrics got me thinking. Never before have
I heard the word 'Brooding' in a worship song let alone in relationship
to the Holy Spirit. It sounded really powerful within the context of
Revival, so I looked up the word's meaning to be sure I understood. The
definition that most fit was 'To protect (young) by or as if by
covering with the wings.' but as I read on some of the others made
sense to:
1. To be deep in thought; meditate.
2. To focus the attention on a subject persistently and moodily; worry: brooded over the insult for several days.
3. To be depressed.
So, as Robin Mark sings about '
of one calling, prepare ye the way of the Lord.
And make His paths straight in the wilderness
And let your light shine in the darkness
And let your rain fall in the desert.
So you love this city and you love these streets.
Every child out playing by their own front door
Every baby laying on the bedroom floor.
Every driver driving through the rush hour mob
I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones
You're going to send revival, bring them all back home
Like a train on the edge of town
I can feel the brooding of Your Spirit
"Lay your burdens down, Lay your burdens down".
To the lost soul reaching for a higher high
From the young man working through his hopes and fears
To the widow walking through the veil of tears
Every fathers daughter, every mothers son.
I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones
You're going to send revival, bring them all back home
Like a train on the edge of town
I can feel the brooding of Your Spirit
"Lay your burdens down, Lay your burdens down".
